Cool M16 Course- a bit jealous! (GDG)

My husband is getting ready for his 4-day select M16 Training course out at FrontSight (we're lifetime members so our only cost is a gun rental fee and 1600 rounds) this next week. In spite of all the bad press about fully automatic weapons, I have to admit that I'm a little jealous. I can't even imagine what firing an M16 would be like (besides expensive). I wonder if I will ever have the chance to legally fire a fully automatic weapon?

Having to lug an M16 around while in the Army the novelty of firing isn't all that great...do they make ya break them down and clean them too? God I hated having to pull the hand guards off....oh the smell of break free....

I've fired a fully auto before. Its different than I thought it would be,the gun wants rise up. Its not like you see on TV where they just hose away at stuff. In the real world its short burst or you'll be shooting over the target. It was fun though!

Yes I must concur with FOM, my m16 fun meter was pegged after 21 yrs and three deployments...

Loved my car-15 with moderator while i was in the army. Like was said, bursts... Hard to control with sustained fire.
First time my wife fired f/a, the smile was worth the cost!
One costs quite a bit now, plus all the paperwork, but the fun factor pegs the scale.
Wait til you shoot a 50!
    Here's my wife with ours.

    And f/a fun.

I will say shooting the M60 was way more fun and after lugging the spare ammo on the crew I would of been pissed if I never got the chance to fire it! but I have to say being an engineer and blowing things up with explosives was way more fun!

You haven't lived, until you've lit up a floating barge with 50 cal API on NVGs, while flying 120 knots at less than 100 feet AGL.
