So sorry for your loss. I have watched Hillmann's video so many times in anticipation for my new puppy that I feel like I almost knew Nick. He sure seemed like a great dog.The thing you can do is to remember all the good times you had together and how good of a life you gave him. Prayers out to you and Nick. God bless!
Sad news today for me. Nick Jr. is gone now. He was the star of our first video ... Training a Retriever Puppy ... He was a natural ... He played his part to perfection ... He made me look so much better than I was ... No one will be able to say the right thing to me about him because no one could possibly know him the way I did.

So sorry to hear this news. It's tough to lose one unexpectedly. As Bill mentioned, no one can really say the right things, because no one knew him like the ones closest to him, BUT I hope you can find comfort in knowing how big an impact he made to a lot of people.
Having lost the dog in my avatar in an instant last June, making the decision to get a new pup was tough. Watching Bill and Nick in the video, somehow made everything alright. It put into persepective the relationship we want to cultivate with our retrievers. Now I have a 7 month old pup that thinks I hung the moon. I have no doubt in my mind, that is due in large part to the relationship I watched Bill and Nick build in the video. So for that..... I am thankful to all who knew and loved Nick!
So very sorry to hear of this terrible loss Steve. Nick Jr was so much more than just a dog to so many. We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with you and all those who were so close to him.
I have not seen the DVD, primarily because I have not started a new puppy since the DVD came out...so I didn't "know" Nick like so many on here feel they do.
But I am still very sorry for your loss. He was way too young to have to say goodbye. Rest In Peace Nick.

Im so sorry for your loss. We also met Nick jr through the video and liked it so much we thought of using him for stud... RIP Nick jr. Our deepest condolences to you Steve and Bill.
