Default New Traveler Pups - Mother Nature knows Best

For weeks I have been making sure that I had everything in place just in case my Player had a difficulty whelping puppies. She looked absolutely huge and I figured it would be tough for her to handle the pups. I had the vet ready to meet me if anything went wrong.

She started at 10:00 pm and kept delivering through the night. Every one of them I checked them out, dried them off and helped her with the first 8. She looked like she was done at 3:30 am and was sleeping. My Vet had thought 9 was the number and 8 came out. I decided it was time to get two hours of sleep.

5:00 am I rise and head out to the whelping box, there are two more puppies and they are all cleaned up and nursing with the others. I had nothing to do with them and they were perfect.
9:00 am she had two more and once again she handled it all by herself the whelping box was as clean as could be and she was cleaning the puppies.

I guess my point here is that often times we try to "help" or coach this whelping process with people and dogs. 98% of the time Mother Nature is really the one in control and we should let Nature take it's course.

I included a picture of the 12 Traveler & Player puppies that were all born healthy. I had little to do with it

Great to here Eric! Ray Johnson here, you called be earlier in the month to chat about our shared sire. Sunny had 11 and they are almost 6wks now and are getting wilder by the day. Rough on us, just imagine what Sunny and Player's job is like! Ha Ha. How many males and females?

    Erik

Went training today. Told Kitty that her sister was having pups. I think Kitty would have hid underneath the truck if she knew that Player was going to have 12 puppies
