Default Transitioning from Inside to Outside

Hi everyone. I did a search on this and couldn't really find much.

I'm in PA and have been doing a majority of my OB training inside (in my basement, pretty wide open space), partially due to weather and partially due to the fact that I don't get home from work until after dark. The problem I'm having is that he does GREAT inside and as soon as we go outside it's like he forgot everything we went over. He is more interested in sniffing the ground and peeing on things.

My questions is this, should I move on with the training (IE move to force fetch) or work on OB outside more before moving on? We've been doing OB everyday for about a month..maybe a little longer...He's got it all down pat (even while holding a bumper) while we are inside.

    BTW...I'm following Fowl Dawgs I

Any links to related threads would be appreciated too

    Thanks,

    Brandon

You are experiencing the first step in proofing the commands and the dog is learning to generalize the commands as some say...The added attraction of sight ,sounds and smell is causing the dog to lose focus...Keep at it ....Steve S
