Default Who Trains for APLA in MN

Anyone near the Twin Cities area that trains for APLA, or suggestions of clubs that you know of that do? I am new to running tests and training and am looking to get as much info as I can on APLA. I have been the APLA site but if there are local trainers or clubs that train for this would be great to know.

    Thanks
    Mike

Try Brad Lhotak at Golden Oak Kennels near Brookings, SD. He has had a lot of success in the APLA and AKC Hunt Tests as well.

I know this is almost a 3 year old thread but I'm interested in the same information. I'm picking up my pup in a few weeks and have found a trainer I'm using but I'm looking for clubs or groups that get together and train and prepare each other and dogs for field trials and hunting. Sorry don't mean to hijack the post. Thanks for any information.

Minnesota is a big state and I don't know where you're located, but you might get in contact with Troy Benson at NorthStar Pointing labs. He's an active trainer. You should also look up Terry Holzinger at Holzinger Kennels and Karen Cashman at Cashman Kennels. Both very experienced breeders/trainers. Good luck and welcome to the forum

It can't be all that hard to teach um to just stand real still when they smell a bird.

Trying to help out in the worst way regards

Bubba, the point (pun intended) is that you don't have to "teach" them to stand still they do it naturally. You gotta use a trainer that won't "teach" that out of them.

Answering in the most smarta$$ way possible,

I'm located in Bloomington, Mn. I'm actually getting my pup from Troy Benson and was hoping to have him train it. I'm looking for information on getting into field trials and a group of people that get together and hold handlers clinics and run dogs prior to these trials but to be honest I'm not sure if that exists.
