Whats your favorite bumper to use for Blinds?

I understand that different level of training for each dog you may use one color over another to simplify or make things difficult, but thought I could ask and see what you like to use most?...

Canvas?

Plastic?

White, Orange, Black?

EZ birds or Dokkens DeadFowl?

Any particular brand?

or Dead Mallards etc.

Why do you like this the most?

It depends on what you want. Maybe with young dogs white bumpers, but usually orange. Young dogs I usually throw in live birds, pigeons for land blinds and ducks for water blinds. If I have just shot a bunch of pigeons, I will use them on blinds.

With a young dog, I want them to be able to see it, when they get close. But, I don't want them to be able to see them from a long ways away.
I don't want to have to handle a whole bunch, right at the end of the blind.

With a more advanced dog, I don't want them to be able to see them until they are right on top of them.
I want them to have to handle, all the way to the bumper.

If I use big white bumpers with them, it's as suction. I handle past them, to a blind that the dog can't see.



Dogs can't see orange very well, but I can.
In the water, black is usually harder to see than orange. But it's also harder for ME to see a black bumper in the water!

Also, the size of the bumper has a lot to do with how easy it is to see it.
It's not just a matter of ground cover.

2" orange Hallmark bumpers when the temp is above 25 or so.

Colder temps canvas 3". Most of them seem to have faded to a midtone gray or brown.

Ducks are best though.

Red/black bumpers or birds,, Don't make something so simple so hard and complicated... This dog training stuff is complicated enough without sweating the small stuff.
