HMMM! ? Long on easy 'Breck'?...9th grade is getting on 'Growing up'?..and deserves the 'grown up' respect for posting? first off!
No matter the age of the 'pup', or the handler?..they gotta start retrieving anything?

Once they got that under their belt!?
It's just a matter of 'Mind over matter'?..or fur over feather?
At 8 weeks old ,It should be 'au naturale'?

For the youngster starting?...His ''Frozen'' birds are more likely to be 'Gelatine' ,and not the best start for anyone?..especially a dog.

There are groups of guys and ladies that get together and help each other train, run set ups, and just run dogs. Get with a group. Youll have a blast and learn a lot.

That's where I was leading to with Mr Brown and shooting flyer ducks in training.

While training retrievers it is virtually impossible to do it your self. Dog trainers join forces and form what we call "Training Groups".
During a days training we throw dead ducks as "marks" for dogs to retrieve and shoot farm raised duck "Flyers". (or pheasant)
Basically, each dog will have at least one live bird shot for it in training each week.

This is where you come in. You need top join a training group, training groups often hire "Bird Boys" to go out in the field with a chair, gun and a bag of birds to throw marks.
Where I live we pay kids your age $10/hr to be bird boys. In Alabama things may be different.
IF you can shoot flyers by yourself you would be very valuable to a training group.
You shoot birds, they teach you how to train your dog.

Now the trick is to find the best training group near you to join up with.

Ohhhhhhhh. I thought you meant something completely different. 10 bucks an hour? So I would have to shoot ducks flying over for an hour and get paid doing it. Sounds like fun.
