So when you send your 6 mo old to a pro for his "basics" thats 2500 miles away and it comes time to pick him up/bring him home after 8 mos how much time would plan on spending with the pro and the dog you haven't seen for months. I'd like to learn as much as possible from the pro and see where the dog is at (I get regular updates that are positive). It would be like a private "training clinic". I'm thinking 2 or 3 days. What would you plan for???

I'd prefer about two weeks, but usually only manage a week to 10 days.

Well take what ever you can, the more the better....and I hear ya, wished I had more vacation hours! Of course if it is an older dog that is a repeat customer than the transition is less critical in my opinion, but with a young one try and get as much time as you can.
