K-9 Killed in Line of Duty
Please give your thoughts and prayers for this great dog and his handler. Koda was a four year veteran with a distinguished record. My brother is also a K-9 handler with this department, and I've seen all that goes into developing these dogs and the bond that forms between the dog and handler; both cops are partners in the truest sense of the word.

I just finished reading Soldier Dogs - The Untold Story of America's Canine Heroes by Maria Goodavage. I recommend it, highlights the bonds made between dog and handler. I can only imagine what the handler is going through.

Brave Koda... He did exactly what he was supposed to do. What an incredible dog... too bad it had to end like this. I hope the man they were after gets what he deserves. I'm afraid with the lack of common sense that often prevails in regards to guns and such in this country nowadays that the officers who returned fire on the idiot may be in trouble. I hope this is not so.
