...it got me to thinking about how bombarded we are with commercials on a daily basis, regardless of which TV programs we happen to enjoy. Having been in the broadcast industry for 50 years, and written beaucoups commercilas, I feel I have some education in what the advertiser is 'getting' at. While the auto spots are quite mundane, the plethora of insurance campaigns are in many cases quite entertaining. For years now, we've been pummeled with the various Geico spots, which I find very well written and produced, albeit their claim to saving "15% or more" does stretch the truth in advertising policy. Them along comes the ever condescending Flo and her cabal of clowns that campaign for the 'Progressive' insurance programs. But here's the rub. This company is designed for the 'low information' crowd if ever there was one.

I'm not sure what the 'price' comparisons are for these various companies policies for cars, homes, cycles or whatever, but one truth has been brought out recently that has some folks questioning where best to spend their insurance money. This bit of information may help make that decision more intelligently.

I hate most of the Geico commercials, but those Progressive commercials are even worse. Progressive used to be the 'trash' insurance company that you had to use if you were what they used to call assigned risk (DUI, habitual offender, etc.) in other words, no one willingly picked them as a carrier as their service is abysmal. But hmmm, run by a bunch of commies? There's probably no such thing as the assigned risk category anymore; being categorized as such a bad driver no insurance company would voluntarily insure you no doubt hurt people's feelings.

Living in the Black Hills of SD that features one of the world's largest biker rallys, and one of HD's finest biker facilities for sales and service, I'd be willing to bet YOU there isn't enough Democrats in HD to stick in your eye and see. I've visited the BH HD shop on many occasions. You couldn't find a Democrat within shouting distance.
