Removing/Buying Kennel Name

I've almost decided on my pups full registered name, but would like to see about leaving the kennel/breeders initials out of the name. I just wanted to get some thoughts on this and see if its common to make an offer to have those removed. And let me first say that I have absolutely nothing against the breeders of my dog. I just do not really care for the way it looks on paper. Thanks

If it wasnt agreed upon in the contract made with the breeder to have the breeders kennel name, in the registered name of the pup I dont see the problem. Though I do know some breeders stipulate if you are getting a full registration rather than a limited registration that you include the name of the breeders kennel.

We always gave the buyer permission to use Gator Point when they named their pup. This was to be their choice. We were proud of the pups from our program. I hate having 'strings' attached to something I buy or own and can't treat others the way I don't like to be treated. Just my opinion.

Unless there is some type of stipulation regarding you putting the kennel name in your registration, you have no obligation to do so. It is your pup, name it what you want.

I'll have to take a closer look at the contract tomorrow, but i do know that the breeders initials are written in ink in the letter boxes provided on the registration form.

Unless it is part of your contract,go online and register your pup. I have seen where the kennel says in order for your health guarantee you have to use their name. But the way I look at it, I am not spending several years of time and money to return the dog over a health guarantee? Just my opinion.

I guess you could become really creative with the letters already on the registrations forms.......hmmm

I agree with Miss Cleo. It should be up to the new owner to choose whether or not to use the breeder's kennel name. I have bred litters. A breeder requiring a new owner to use their kennel name is just arrogant IMHO.
