Default Question For Some of You

I am probably the youngest person that post on POTUS (and I very rarely do), so I have a question for you older guys, and ladies. Would you have ever thought that you would see the day when the following things would happen or are in the process of happening in this country?

    Legalize marijuana?
Make ILLEGAL immigrants legal, which therefore makes them eligible for programs they have never contributed too!
LAW ABIDING CITIZENS (Gun Owners) would be looked at as scum of the earth, and the prez pretty much calls us that?

I could name several more, but here are a few that really get me.

Oh btw, HEY DEMS ARE YOU HAPPY YET???? Your guy is doing a GREAT job! I can remember one of you in particular that said “He isn’t going to mess with our 2nd Ammendment”

    Hi Brandon,
Liberalism is a mental disorder. I didnt make that up heard Michael Savage say it more than once!
But does'nt it make sense? One can understand all this happening where liberals have brainwashed the masses. But it's growing more and more which is the scarry thing. It is hard to believe there are so many gullable people in the Country but thats where we are today. I still believe that common sense will prevail one day, but I fear it will take a tragic event to wake folks up!
Many States are finally returning to a conservative approach but nationally the liberals still are winning.

I just had this conversation with RK this morning...I can remember when they initiated a nonsmoking ban at a few restaurants in certain California cities. I honestly thought that it would never hold up in court

Well fast forward 20 yrs later and its now illegal in some Calif cities to smoke in public places outdoors....

and I am a Non Smoker

Think again that they cant legislate away some personal liberties...

I am as well a younger guy, early 30's and have always had the "it wont happen in my time" attitude. Which brings up a more important question; is it a good idea to bring children into the world these days in America? Take a look at this one and make note of the ratio between D and R.

I qualify as old........75 years so I will answer ..........No I never would have thought that would happen. The surprising thing to me is my relatives ( some as old as myself ) who have embraced Obama and his
politics. Just plain crazy the things etc. that are happening.

As opposed to answering the op, and at the risk of getting the SAPP from NM's ire up, I can empathize with your question. I used to question my own parents bringing children into the America they were living in in the "dirty 30's" in the Dakotas. I'm obviously happy they did, but I've wondered many times if my wife and I would have had our children if we had lived in a different era of time. My parents came out of WWI, into the Great Depression, the dirty 30's, and WWII. My brother and I were a product of that era. We were survivors, much as you and your family will be in this present age.

As to Brandon's query, Tom may have given him the knowledgeable answer. I'm at a loss as to coming up with anything that might be even a little optomistic. You have to realize, Brandon, while I wasn't ever much of a pessimist, I'm afraid I've become seriously disillusiond in the America I was raised in. I understand your fears as to what is in front of you, and how helpless you may feel after viewing what passes for the "news" information coming from the MSP, and watching them swoon at the feet of the current POTUS as if he's some sort of messiah. You can see through all that phoniness, but then you watch your neighbors applaud and genuflect for this same individual you see ruing what America you were counting on during your lifetime.

I'm unsure what to advise, but you may have seen me post this on other threads. I'm hoping young guys like you will correct my feelings of despair, and find a way to overcome what this nation is suffering through.

The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.

A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, feminists, gays, government workers, union members, environmental extremists, the media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the forever needy, the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens, and other fellow travelers has ended Norman Rockwell's America.

The US Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky's ‘Rules for Radicals’ and Chicago shyster David Axelrod, along with international socialist George Soros, will be pulling the strings on their black puppet to bring us into the New World Order.

The Republicans ran two candidates who couldn't even win their own home states, while circus clown Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing ‘post - Sandy’ tribute that elevated the phony ‘Commander-in Chief’ to Mother Teresa status.

People like me are now completely politically irrelevant; I will never again concern myself with the aforementioned
Republican coalition, which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.

You will never again out vote the people who gave Obama four more years.

It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away.

It will take zealots, not moderates; zealots who will never ‘reach across the aisle’ to RINOs, to right this ship and restore our beloved Country to it's former status.

Those who come after us will have to risk ‘their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor’ to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness

Atlas has Shrugged, and John Galt has left the building.
When the one you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.

The best thing you can do is try to get as many young people to wake up and pay attention. Study some history and not just American, our borders have not been here long enough to give you perspective to what is happening...Our fore fathers feared democracy as much as they feared a king and rightly so. They knew we would eventually go down the road we are heading because history told them so.

I would say that at 21 I am close to the youngest... and to answer your question, you have to look into history as sick lids suggested.

Legalize Marijuana? After experimentation in the 50's and the "hippie" movement of the 60's (RK, whose generation was this? I do not know your age, just asking. I hate when people blame our generation for current issues. Problems like today's do not happen overnight. It is continual negligence), many were calling for legalization. Look at the leaders of those movements. They aren't in college; they still sport the pony tails from their youth.
Illegals? Immigration was generally open until world war II. Here is a question I think many need to think about (especially those who take advantage of our welfare system): What job is so far "below" yourself that you will not take it? Is the pursuit of the American Dream really just a pursuit of American Greed? Maybe illegals would not be so inclined to work in the US as much if Americans got off the couch and worked a minimum wage job. How do you think I am paying for school?
Guns? Ever since the massive government programs of the 1930's, the government has been trying to take control of what citizens do in all aspects of life. Another question: Why is having a gun held in such a negative light today? Where did this start? To answer this, look at today's media and cinema. How are guns portrayed?

If one is going to talk about history and America, Rome must be in the discussion. We, America, are sliding down the same slope the Romans did. If we do not look to history, IT WILL REPEAT ITSELF. Detach yourself from current issues for a moment and learn something about ancient Rome. How could the Romans have avoided destruction? How does that translate to modern day America?
If anyone can figure this out, I will stand behind them. It would be an answer to an age old question and, I believe, the answer to the future of our great country.
Genesis 27:3 Now then, get your weapons--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I am 61 it is my generation and we screwed it up.
The people running things now are the runts that didn't get picked at recess.
    The right fielders in LL.

The people who never had the motivation to get out and do things, they sat in class until there was nowhere else to go but acadamia and politics.

Obama has never built a damned things, he just tears stuff down.
And he is very good at it!
