I'm not a pro, I don't have any clients I have to please so I can train as I prefer. I used to ff at 5.5 months and cc right after. Now I cc at 6 months and ff at maybe 8 months. I think I like having them as trained (well, semi trained) puppies for a month or two to give them a chance to mature a little bit more and get good line habits before I ff them.

Not sure if it's a better or worse methodology than I used to do, but I like it better.

Just another data point for people's thoughts.

You really gotta be careful about how high a pedestal you put your method, your accomplishments, your dog on. There's usually someone who's done more, somewhere. And they may have used a different method than you did! Chris Atkinson 2013

Some good guys do it one way and some good guys do it another. Sounds like a WIN-WIN.
