Default Dog food no longer agreeing with dog

For the last three weeks my BLF 11M has had horrible gas and loose stool. It's not the runs but the stool is gloppy. Nothing has changed in her diet. At first I thought maybe she got ahold of something that didn't agree with her. God knows they explore the world by eating bits of it. But after 3 wks and watching to make sure she hasn't ate anything odd I can only think her food is no longer agreeing with her. Does this happen? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm going to start looking for a new food but I wanted to see if I missed something

I would take a sample to your veterinarian to check for giardia, coccidia or other parasites before I would suspect the food.

I sent an email to my vet for his opinion. There are no other symptoms. She's not acting unusual in any way. She just has rotten gas and gloppy stool

That is classic for coccidia. I would have a fecal run and possibly put her on meds even if they don't find anything. Coccidia and giardia are hard to find in the stool because it is only shed during certain stages of the life cycle.

coccidia usually hits young 3-4 month pups. She has no blood in her stool and is not acting sick or weak.

could be giardia or clostridium. Clostridium causes slimy, really stinky stools. No other symptoms--they don't feel bad or act poorly unless they are really overloaded.

I was thinking along the same lines as gdluck. Overfeeding results in loose stools for my dogs. Bill

Over feeding could be it. I've recently stepped up her amount because we're working daily and 2-3 times a day on the weekends and she was looking a little thin

giardia is notoriously hard to identify on a fecal, and quite a few vets, including mine, will just go ahead and treat for it based on the symptoms. That'd be my best guess.
