Default Feds told to make sequester look as painful as WH promised

"The thing I admire about the rat tail is that it takes commitment. It's not like one day you just decide you want one, you have to grow out that bad boy and you have to repeatedly convince the hairdresser to trust you because it's a great idea."

The White House had to fend off questions Tuesday about the Homeland Security Departmentís decision to sign a $50 million contract for new uniforms for airport screeners, just days before the sequesters.

Someone very close to me works as an upper level civilian manager on a large Army Post nearby. Prior to the sequester taking place, they had all the plans in place ready to announce to the workforce on how it was going down. All employees got an immediate 20% reduction in work time (pay). But the hit they feel is actually bigger because they still have the deductions for their insurance etc... So take home pay for many folks took a 30% hit that day. The management worked on the implementation of this for over a month non stop. There was never any word that it won't be needed.

They got similar memos and warnings from superiors about talking to the media and not bad outing POTUS.

lucky that they still have insurance.

Sounds like prudent planning I.E., prepare for the worst. If a miracle had happened and a budget was passed or alternate cuts were agreed to, there would have been no need to implement the cuts.-Paul

Yep... Thats true. But not lucky that we have clowns running the country. They do this every time the ding dongs in congress and and POTUS can't agree on a budget too. Continuing Resolutions... They waste tons of manpower hours working on "what-ifs". If govt would just do its job and put out the yearly budget, life would be a little simpler. Same with the "fiscal cliff"... Hours and hours of work for whole depts... For nothing in the end... Just wasted time when the politicians came to an agreement at the last minute.

For all the posturing that Obama, Boehner, Reid et al do on the nightly news... There are many people behind the scenes having to actually clean up the mess they leave behind. It's ridiculous.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the house pass a bill that would have given the POTUS authority to decide where the cuts would be made and he said if it landed on his desk he would have Vetoed it?

If he didn't want the hard job why did he take the oath!

You can't be that dense, so you are just being intellectually dishonest with that approach. Anyone with a brain knows that the house has put out a budget very year for the last four year and the senate, led by none other than Dingy Harry Reid... Will not even bring it up for a vote. Come on man
