Hearing Rand Paul on Rush this morning tells me he is right on, and his views on the military are a far cry from what the libertarians on POTUS continue to tell us what is wrong with conservative thinking in this nation. Tea Party folks are in full support of Rand Paul. We aren't full fledged libertarians, although we do support much of their agenda and principles. But the constant slamming by Franco that would lead readers to believe we are all neo-cons and actually, in his mind, "war-mongers". Sorry Franco, but you are way off the res with that thinking. But I'm not here to convince you of anything. I understand your mindset, and it's as made up in your views as an Allen Combs is in his.

Here's another good Tea Party supporter in favor of the Rand Paul filibuster, along with another huge attempt by the Republican establishment to belittle what real conservatives want to happen in this nation. So our first battle is to rid this country of the RINOs and establishment cronies...along with the socialistic Democrats on the Senate, that swing more Fascist/Marxist almost daily.

The Rand Paul Filibuster: A Point Not to be Missed

    By: Erick Erickson (Diary)

Rand Paul has done a brilliant thing filibustering the President’s appointment to the CIA.

By keeping the filibuster going through prime time, Rand Paul forced ABC, CBS, and NBC — chief sources of news for low information voters — to cover the issue.

Along the way, Rand Paul had help giving him time to rest his voice. Ted Cruz came down a few hours in to give Paul a break. Mike Lee and Jerry Moran came in. Cruz read tweets in support of Paul.

Mark Kirk, who returned to the Senate a short while back after a very bad stroke, came in to support Rand Paul.

Even Democratic Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon joined in the filibuster.

Meanwhile, Lindsey Graham and John McCain went to eat dinner with the President. That speaks for itself.

Senator Rand Paul’s principled stand yesterday, filibustering on the Senate Floor for 13 straight hours, was inspiring, encouraging, and reassuring.

We stand here today inspired by Sen. Paul’s passionate and courageous leadership, and by the support shown by many others in the Senate Chamber and around the country.

Thank you Sen. Rand Paul for standing up on the floor of the Senate to demand a debate about the Constitution’s relevance, the importance of the Fifth Amendment, the Senate’s constitutional mandate to advise and counsel the President, whether the different branches of government are truly intended to provide checks and balances, and whether there are limits to the Executive Branch’s power. Each of these arguments is important and valuable to our country today and essential to ensuring a better future for all Americans. Sen. Paul has shown wisdom and political leadership to use the filibuster as a bully pulpit to elevate these principled arguments to the forefront of the media. We need more leaders like Sen. Rand Paul.

Yesterday, we also saw that there were several others willing to stand with Rand Paul: Senators Barasso, Chambliss, Cornyn, Cruz, Flake, Johnson, Lee, McConnell, Moran, Rubio, Scott, Thune, and Toomey. Thank you all for your willingness to have Sen. Paul’s back and, more importantly, to stand up for the Constitution. It’s important to note that Sen. Mike Lee was the first person to assist Sen. Paul, and Sen. Ted Cruz stayed until the end, reading supportive Tweets to his colleague, among other contributions. Thank you Sens. Lee and Cruz!

Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat from Oregon, spoke in support of the questions Sen. Paul was asking of the White House, and referred to the two of them as the “Checks and Balances Caucus.” Sen. Wyden was willing to put aside political party loyalty to consider what is best for all Americans. Thank you for that, Sen. Wyden.

We are finally seeing Senators and Representatives who were elected as a result of the tea party movement beginning to establish their footing, use their voices effectively, and make a difference by pushing Congress to again function the way it should. This would not be possible without the time, dedication, commitment, perseverance, and determination of the Patriots around the country who have stood for fiscally responsible, constitutionally limited government through Tea Party Patriots, Campaign for Liberty, 912 groups, and other like-minded organizations.

Now is the time, with our Constitution and our liberties under such an organized and sustained attack, to fight back harder than ever, and to never, ever give in. Sen. Paul’s physical effort alone was so inspiring that many of us across the country could barely sleep last night. This is the spirit of America we long to see in our elected officials.

When we began Tea Party Patriots four years ago, we knew it would take a long time to achieve our goals. We have a 40-year plan. We will continue to build upon the foundation we have laid. We are only just beginning!

Thank you and God Bless America!

Rand is going to need all the support he can get in 2015 including the Teas! Especially since the GOP establishment will fight his nomination tooth and nail.

"“I would absolutely not run unless it were to win,” Sen. Paul replied. “Points have been made, and we we will continue to make points. But I think the country is really ready for the narrative coming — the libertarian Republican narrative.” Sen. Rand Paul

Unless people like Rand and Rep Justin Amash can reform the GOP to the Libertarian view, they will be forced to forego their reform efforts within the GOP and go to the political party that has the same views!

And, I listened to Rand a little while ago and there is very little difference between his views and that of the Libertarian Party. The only riff between the two was in Rand sucking up to the GOP in supporting Romney. Give the man credit for trying to work within the two party systen but when he comes to the realization that it won't happen, adios. Because, at some point in the near future, I think both Rand and Justin will give up on trying to reform the GOP and go where they are welcomed.

The Libertarian Party believes that all persons are entitled to keep the fruits of their labor. A call for the repeal of the income tax, abolishment of the Internal Revenue Service and all federal programs and services not required under the U.S. Constitution. We support the passage of a "Balanced Budget Amendment" to the U.S. Constitution, provided that the budget is balanced exclusively by cutting expenditures, and not by raising taxes. LP.org

Franco, I think Rand would be a pragmatist, and Ron tried the Libertarian Party approach.

If they cannot make their points under the banner of one of the existing parties, there is not enough time to reverse the course of the country & the political situation. The only option I could see would be to form the Republican Libertarian party ... to draw those who lean libertarian within the Republican party, along with the existing Libertarians. I don't think that would be so easy to do & an unlikely merger; and even if it did happen, it might also take too much time.

    I'm not that optimisic.

The Repubs are clearly split as evident by the Establishment vs Teas&Libertarians. I can see a growing tide of voters who feel thay have been disappointed by the Establishment. Afterall, it was them that got us Obama. Don't overlook the power of a movement which time has come when the voters are behind it.

Survival will happen to that entity that has the power.

If the Teas are willing to leave the hot-button social issues to individuals and states, the establishment is toast.

Well, Rand got the attention of a lot of people last night ... even libs who were previously in the dark about what was really the point of his filibuster.

Meanwhile, Obama took McCain & Graham to dinner ... with a 20-car caravan to a restaurant, which it is said, O paid for out of his own pocket. Then McCain & Graham come back to the Senate floor and demean Rand for wasting the public's time with his filibuster; and McCain saying that Americans have no reason to fear their govt. You don't have to make stuff up ... truth is stranger than fiction these days. Perhaps there is some envy that Cruz, Rand, and Rubio are getting the attention and support?
