would you continue to participate in Finished tests after completing the HRCH title if there was no Grand venue?
there's no good reason to fatten up a retriever.
Lot of folks have 500+ point dogs who do not have a grand title.
Not everything has to be a competition, I have certain clubs that I really enjoy seeing friends and running their tests. This is what HRC should be about.

I would...without hesitation. I may never be good enough of a handler to run the Grand, but I enjoy HRC and will stick with them.

Gumbo has almost 1000 points, but his chances of passing the Grand are slim. I continue to run Finished (and Upland) tests for the points and because they are a ton of fun.

I have a 500 point dog and am working on another that is up to 340. I love the weekend HRC tests. It is the venue that got me started in the games and I always have fun running. The weekend tests are similiar to hanging around the fire at duck camp only with a constant supply of dogs to watch.
However my dogs and their DAH do not have the temperment needed to run the Grand. I will run what the dogs do well and love them regardless of where they don't excel. No more trying to pound a square peg into a round hole.

Yes but not as much.... I dont really care about points.. 500 1000 i care about that GRHRCH!! If it was gone id only run a couple at test of clubs that im friends with and go over to the AKC world and chase the plate i guess
