I can't believe no one has posted about how stupid the show is or how shows duck hunters in a bad way.

C'omon--it is really stupid. But, I have softened my stance, as there is very little hunting and mostly entertainment nonsense. That is better than an actual hunting show that could instill some hunting and environment ethics from a man who is a hunting legend.
Gotta go --Desperate Housewives is on.

There are two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm. One is the danger of supposing that breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from the furnace…........If one has cut, split, hauled, and piled his own good oak, and let his mind work the while, he will remember much about where the heat comes from, and with a wealth of detail denied to those who spend the weekend in town astride a radiator.

I like the show.
Here is my take:
The show is not targeted to us. It is targeted to the non-hunting, city dwelling 90% of the rest of the North American population.
If you want a duck hunting show go watch one. But other than the 2 min of dog work your lucky to see it is like watching paint dry IMO....they are all the same.
Yes, DD is over the top, yes it is staged, but it makes for good TV, that again IMO the whole family can watch together. It brings big than life characters who are living the red-neck dream to life in the homes of the city slickers. I would also say it does a lot to help convince those same people, the 99% of them who really have no opinion on hunting either way to lean our way. The Anti's will be anti's and there is generally no changing their mind. It's the silent majority you you need to convince. I think this show helps with that.
Labrador Retriever, a 20g & grouse...is there a better combination?

I was just reading that the premier episode of the third season drew more viewers than American Idol and is by far the top rated show on A & E as well as th top rated show on cable. Not bad for a couple of Loosiana rednecks.
Phil, Willie, Jase or Uncle Si are getting a minimum 30k for 3 hour appearences at outdoor shows so, don't expect to see them at the one near you. That 30k doesn't include first class travel and accomodations. Last year, they were 3.5k for 4 hours!
They are huge and good for them. Kids love the show and that is who the network is targeting with DD. The show is attracting the kids and the parents too which is a double win for A & E Channel.
Where do we go without great leaders for the defense of our liberties? Who will defend our right to live our lives _as we chose_ without others taking that from us? The answer is, as it should be, no one. We are the defense of our rights and should always remember that. Libertarian blogger
