gdg reminder from times past gdg

I was returning home from training today...a 2 lane highway....55 mph speed limit. Opposing traffic was being led by a police car and 40 or so cars in a funeral procession. Everyone in front and behind me pulled over and waited for the funeral to pass. Unfortunately, this show of respect has been lost from the large urban area where I come from. South East Alabama still has some lovely traditions.

What other demonstrations of respect have been lost? A multitude I fear.

Hats removed and hands over your heart when the National Anthem is played. Hats also removed when seated at the table to eat. Most of all, respect for each other. This is just a few as there are so many others.

I've noticed this a lot too. When attending my son's high school sporting events I am terribly bothered by the amount of people I see who stand with their hands behind their back, including some of the players/athletes. I let him know if I ever saw him like that, it wouln't be so good for him later later, but fortunately he always does the right thing that he was brought up to do and covers his heart.
Reminds me of an email I received showing Obama and other prominent party members with their hands behind their backs during the anthem. Totally disrespectful IMO.
