It seems my All Age dog may have hypothyroidism - should have blood test results shortly. Has anyone experience trialling a dog with this condition? He is 6 years old and we are also hoping to run in upland bird trials this winter. Only symptom so far is very discoloured coat.

I have a dog that came down with it at around seven or eight years old but his quickly turned into being cushings desease. He is almost twelve now and I haven't been able to run or hunt him for the past 3 years.

Primary asymptomatic hypothyroidism is very common and easily managed with L-thyroxine sodium and when managed should have no adverse affects on performance

I had a Field Trial lab that was diagnosed at 5 and ran trials until 11. He died just short of 16. Just remember to give meds everyday.
