Default looking for a mentor in southern MN.

Hey everybody! I have been to a few hunt tests to watch and observe and love what im seeing all I have a 1.5 year old CLM and hunted him two seasons so far and he has done great! So I would like to have somebody show me the ropes on how to prepare and run these tests to gain a JH title possiby. I have nobody that does this sport so trying to figure everything by myself. Any info would be great!
    Thanks in advance!

Where are you located? The Southern MN Hunting Retriever Association is a hunt test club that has their hunt tests in Waseca and Blooming Prairie. They may have some members living near you. Drop their secretary, Pat Taphorn, a note at secretary@sm-hra.com or stop in at one of their training days.

Due to time restraints of my job and being an hour away from home I can not make it to most of these training sessions during the week. Weekends are my only option and I do not feel comfortable enough to just "show up" at these groups training sessions or tests solo with out knowing any body there. So that's my pickle. I would like to just find a future friend close to me to go over all of this exciting sport with me so I can prepare to possibly make the commitment to a club.

Kevin - If you can make it, I think you'd learn a lot and meet a bunch of folks at the handler's seminar that we're holding on 4 May. Most of the FPRC members are from the metro area and there are a bunch from the west side of the cities that you could connect with at the seminar.

I have relatives that live in Gaylord, unfortunately, none of them are into the dog games.

Give me a call if you have any questions. Would be happy to talk with you.
