The sheep over there are on the scraggly side...

I loved it.
It brought back fond memories. I got married in July 2000 in Scotland. My wife and I headed up to Inverness (Loch Ness city) and spent the night. We were headed back south on some mountain roads and came across a plywood sign that said "Dog Trial" in dripping spray paint, pointing down a gravel road.
We followed the road up a long ways around many turns, and actually had to stop to avoid hitting some sheep.
After a couple miles, we found a true Sheepdog trial. It was amazing. We were treated like family and had a great time.

"You do not win field trials by being able to do every drill in the book perfectly. It is about the end product."
Only you, Chris, would have taken a detour on the way to your honeymoon to watch a Dog Trial! LOL
But what a neat experience it must have been.
When it stops being fun, I will find something else to do with my time and money.

Maybe only Mr. Atkinson would have gone out of the way from his post-nuptials party, but the top sheepdog trials used to be televised by the BBC (as was the sheep shearing competition at the Royal Welsh Show), and now the "world sheep dog trials" has returned to the airwaves over there. You may find an analogy to retriever field trials run our way and their way from this account of today's sheep dog world championship.
