Default How does Social Security work? Total GDG non political

I am unmarried. As I was going to have an ultrasound done on a lump yesterday , I was having thoughts about mortality and what to do if.....
My question is how long do you have to be married to someone , before they qualify to get your social security benefits, if you die? How does it work?
By the way , my lump was benign...phew!

No answer here but the SS has a pretty good website but they are not too friendly with phone calls anymore. We just got done with the signup process for my wife. All the rest of you keep on working, I need the money!

Do you really want to increase entries at the Junior Hunt Test level? Simply put a limit on entries and everyone will flock to JR and fight over how to get in and what to change to make it fair for all !!!!!

10 years - BTW, it is not yours, it's an entitlement according to your elected officials

    Renee,

Please post pictures of your training grounds and a video of you throwing a bird and I'll consider your marriage proposal. A nice boat and a good duck lease are a positive.

You only have to have been married for 10 years to collect spouses benefits if you were divorced.
If you are a widow you can collect no matter how long married as long as you don't remarry before age 60 (I think). You can collect as early as age 60 on a reduced sliding scale.. If you remarry after age 60 you may collect on new spouses benefits starting at 62 if they are higher. And if you don't remarry you could collect on your own benefits at any time.
"Darla" AFC Candlewoods Lil Smokin Tequila (2002-2013)(fondly remembered)
"Smoke" Smokin Auggies Menace, QAA (2003- )(retired nut case, ask Rando)
"Simba" Humewood Simba (1999-2014)(my 1st dog)

    .
Per favore, non mi rompere i coglioni.

This idea got kicked around a couple years ago.... I'm thinking the janitor really needs to set up a "personals" page! Might be kinda fun...
