    Default new pup training help...

    i am going to be getting a puppy soon from a nice line. i am gong to train myself and was wondering what program to use. i want something has has video and also field manuals for notes and stuff. i will need it to cover EVERYTHING.

    There alot of good ones out there but my favorite is Evan Grahams Smart Works. But that's just my two cents. Congrats and Have fun

    Hillman is a great way to start with your pup.

    Hillman or Stawski's Fowl Dawgs are great. I would suggest the Lardy articles to go along with them.

    If I started a pup today I think I would start out with Hillman and transition over to Lardy's Total Retriever Training. But you can't go wrong with any of those suggested in this thread.

    Whatever program you choose I would go ahead and get the Lardy articles now and start reading them over and over. I would also go ahead and get whatever program you are going to get and start watching it over and over. You'll start to get it by osmosis, and you will see something different every time you watch a given segment.

    what are the Hillman programs called?? cant seem to find them....

    the only Lardy one i found was the marking set.....where do i find the articles???

    for the Smartworks program would i just need vol. I and II or also add the smartfetch to this?? do the two volumes not cover it well enuff??

    haha...just found that....i just dont get what volumes are needed for each...for Hilmann would i need Training a retriver puppy and ?????...what comes after that???

    I would get all three but I would get Training a Retriever Puppy and Traffic Cop for sure. If you email them they will follow up with you too.

    leaning towards the Lardy program....total retriever....gonna order soon so i have a few months to watch and read and be prepped...
