I use Doc E's Ayur Boswellia Serrata on Rocket. He has gotten Cold Tail every year until this year when I began giving it to him. The first time I ever used it he had Cold Tail and it seemed to heel up quicker than in the past. 1 tablet once a day while doing work in cold weather. Land or water.

So you use it as a preventive, but first discovered it as a cure?
Just looking for clarification, I didn't know they made a preventive.

With Rocket I used it first as a cure to help with the heeling process after reading about it on another forum. But since then I have been using the 1 tablet a day during colder weather work and he has yet to have cold tail again. I found it worked as a preventive and helped with the heeling process as well. I ran it through the hunting season as an everyday application. Now since it still hasen't warmed up I give it 1 day before and the day of any cold water work.
    1 bottle last 3 months.

I've found that cold water is not the cause of cold tail, but rather vigerous activity and lot's more tail activity than normal (example; all day hunting on Upland and Waterfowl for several days) Our Water Spaniels used to get cold tail on a regular basis on our annual North Dakota trip. I started using Boswellia as a preventative (on Doc E's advice) several years ago and have not had a case of cold tail since. Each dog gets one capsule morning and night for 5 days before the trip and each day during our trip. My hunting partner's Lab gets twice that dose. This stuff really works!

David. My experience is this. I train harder in the Spring and Summer. By the time fall comes and hunting season begins the dogs are in great shape. The first part of season when the weather is warmer I have never had a case of cold/limp tail with the dogs. But as soon as it gets cold- usually between the splits in the season the first time out is when I use to see it happen. I do believ it is from the activity as you describe but I believe also cold has more of an effect to bring on the condition.
Just my 2 cents. But either way Doc's products are our best friend.
