    Default Sentinel Has Arrived

Hooray, received the first shipment of Sentinel today, 6 tablet packs only for now and priced about the same as Interceptor was priced.

Wow. that is great news. I finally went to Trefexis when my vet finally ran out. Before that, it was like going to the methadone clinic every month to get my allotment.

Ok, I see that it protects from Fleas too, which means there is an additional ingredient, different from Interceptor. Will this be a problem for delicate dogs-I have one I have been hoarding interceptor for, the other I put on Trefexis. It makes me nervous though..

The additional ingredient is lufenuron a pretty innocuous compound which has the unusual property of preventing the flea from synthesizing chitin. Chitin is the primary component of the flea egg shell and the protective coating of the larval flea hence adult fleas are rendered incapable of reproduction. It is also used in cats and is very very safe.

    Dr.Ed

Thanks We recieved E-mail update from Novartis (same manufacture as Sentinel) listing available product,, but they didnt say anything about Interceptor.

Our Vet has perscribed "Tri Heart PLUS" (Ivermectin Pyrantel). Do you feel that is OK, or should I ask for Sentinel?

    Thanks

Thanks for the good news Ed,

if fleas are not an issue in your area that is a good choice, if they are you are unprotected from a potential infestation of fleas, with Sentinel that will not happen as long as all the animals in the household are on it.
