    Default weather and training

curious as to what yall's policy is on training/drill and the weather? i am more specifically talking about weekday training where you might do more drills and yard work instead of what i call "weekend training" that involves more setups, marks, and group atmosphere. we started pattern blinds yesterday and now today its supposed to rain (not thunderstorm). if its just drizzle or rain a little i figured i'd keep up with day 2 of patterns. but if its pouring didnt think i would.

now obviously you will see this weather in tests so maybe you should continue to train in it? but then again in a drill where momentum is the key maybe the rain would hinder it?

If I waited for perfect conditions I would never get anything done or it would take 10 times as long. I am sure your pup will not mind a little water.

I would train in the rain. It rains during tests and a lot during hunting.

I have snow goose hunted in blizzards and duck hunted during rain storms and goose hunted in 90 degree days. So I train even harder when weather is bad.

I have warm gear and rain gear. I train pretty much everyday. Tho couldn't tell from last weeks master test....went out in the first on a ugly blind with a dog that often lines most of her blinds. In our defence she got out of the truck and I told my wife she wasn't her normal self. Acted like she didn't feel good. Next day good as new. They are dogs.

There is a time for everything. Pouring rain makes for an unpleasant experience for both me and the dog. Light drizzle or mist and I am training.

Short easy stuff on bad WX days. Too old to put up with bad weather anymore, don't even hunt in the rain.

Do you really want to increase entries at the Junior Hunt Test level? Simply put a limit on entries and everyone will flock to JR and fight over how to get in and what to change to make it fair for all !!!!!
