    Zip tied a pheasant wing to a bumper and she's never been so crazy to retrieve! Thanks for the advice, now to find a place to use live birds once in a while!

    I've kept a loft full of homing pigeons for many years but seldom use them for more than puppy introductions or temptation when proofing some training concepts. Bumpers are just so much handier, and I'd not want my guys wishing for live birds when they should be excited over getting work with bumpers. Not at all uncommon for me to slaughter birds for the table, rather than shooting them for a dog first, because I don't feel bird work will benefit a dog at that time.
    If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.
