Default Kicking dead horse (swim by) ?

Swim by is a new concept for me.
? So there is know need to do the water T it takes the place of it.
? But you still must do water force before swim - by.

Hmm new one to me. I've always thought of the swim-by as part of a water-T at least that's the way it was taught to me. You teach the dog to swim by you on the way back from one of the overs from the side of the T, and then carry that cast over until you decide to call them in. Seems like it would be pretty hard to teach a dog to swim-by with out them knowing the overs for a T, so I don't see how you could teach swim-by without it. Water force would be FTP through the water, which I consider the back pile part of a water T. Seems like dog training has gotten way too many different names for basically the same thing.

My suggestion, go to Retrievers ONLINE website. He has a free downloadable article on swimby. ON the first page he lists the purpose of swimby. The first of five items is:

It teaches handling skills in the water-view it as a single T in water.

Again, this is just the first item. Pls read all of them.

    Hope this helps.
