Bloat / torsion is a horrible thing, and more common than you might think. Worse in some breeds like Great Danes and Dobies but seen quite often in retrievers. There is some literature out there re/ preventative measures but it is hit and miss. AKCCHF started the "Bloat Initiative" last year - a long-term project that will involve multiple research projects and hopefully get us some answers eventually.

    My Heartfelt Condolences as well.
I also went through this terrible experience with my young dog (2 1/2 yrs old) this past September. It was a Devastating circumstance that took his life in less than a 3 hour timeframe. I pray that I nor anyone else have to go through this with their dog.

I am so sorry to hear this. It is a tragedy to lose any dog but one so young and without warning is the worst. Many thoughts and Prayers to all.

Very sorry to see this. We lost our chocolate lab two years ago this month to a tumor. Praying for peace and comfort.
