    Default Young Retriever passed away at the Grand

    From Autrey Kennels Facebook; 12 minutes ago;

    The 2nd day here at the Grand was a real heart breaker as we had a dog pass away . HRCH UH Dee SH a black 2 yr old female that belonged to Monte & Nita Sayer of Natchitoches, La passed away after running & passing the 1st series. We all left the hunt site late, aired, & then fed about 9:00 Mon night. Sometime during the night Dee's stomach turned over. We got her to the vet but they were unable to save her. Our hearts. & prayers go out to Monty & Nita on their loss of this fine young girl..
    I only got to run Millie on the 2nd series, a water test that about 80% of the dogs have had to handle on. But Millie picked up clean. & then 3 whistled a challenging water blind. I will run Chili & Boss early Mon morning on their 2nd series. Worried as this is no young dog test.

    heard about this while we were watching another series. sad indeed.

    and he's right about the water series (drake) i think the stats on the first day (and 20 or so that had to wait and run it the next day) were of the 100 or so dogs to ran it 69 passed and of that 69 less than 15-20 didnt have to handle. plus it's a 8-9 minute test and really slowed the day down

    We lost Jake to Bloat about 5 years ago to bloat. It's horrible. Not a day goes by that I don't think about it and worry about it.

    My condolences. I lost my first Chesapeake to bloat overnight in the same manner. It's heartbreaking.
