As for his differences with his dad, his major difference is the way he is conducting himself in the spotlight..He has made no major gaffes,he is twice the orator his dad was, and he has been very careful to take some stances that are not absolute...I think he is more pragmatic than his father, I think (and hope) that he learned from the way his father was shunned by the media, by being his own man, he not only will get the majority of his dad's supporters but attract a whole new segment that wouldnt have given his dad a second glance..
The other difference is that Rand is a US Senator, which carries a whole lot more power than a Congressman representing one district in TX...Rand can tackle and speak out on national issues, his dad only had so much clout in the House
