    Default Tick & Flea Prevention

Had the dogs in to the vet this morning for their annual check-up, heartworm check etc. and bought a six month supply of Vectra 3D for flea and tick prevention. We have never had a problem with fleas, but ticks are another issue. Here areund the house, they aren't a problem, but some of the places that we train and run hunt tests they are awful. So, I decided to begin a prevention program.

I am wondering what you all are doing, or not doing and if you are using a preventative, which one. Thanks!

I use the Walmart knockoff of Frontline. It is called Pet Armour. I have had good luck with it and it is reasonably priced.

I am very happy with Advantix II. Covers flies, mosquitoes, fleas and ticks and seems to work well and have never seen a reaction of any kind.

I've been using Vectra 3D and haven't had any problems with ticks.

Frontline didn't work on my dog when she was a pup. I use trifexis and no flea problems. I don't think it helps for ticks though.
