    Default Natural Choice dog food

Has anyone used this dog food.

Rowdy has an allergy and is currently on Hills D/D Vension and Potatoes. He is doing very well on this food. But this stuff is really expensive.
I was looking at the Natural Choice brochure. They have a Grain Free Venison meal and Potato formula also. It is a little cheaper than the Hills D/D.

Does anyone have other recommendations for dog food. I don't know what he is allergic too.

The vet wanted to wait until he was a year old before testing. He is going in for his annual exam and checkup on 5/22/13. We will discuss testing. He is currently 14 mo. old.

Have you taken a look at Fromm dog foods, totally American, made in Wisconsin. Many different formulas, top quality with a reasonable price. One of my Labs has a itch periodically, but not food related. Staying with Fromm. Let me know what you think.
Works for my Labs, after using Pro Plan for 30 years.

The Hills D/D Vension and Potatos that I get at my vet is $63 for 16.7 lbs. The Natural Choice Vension and Potato is $54 for 24 lbs. at Petsmart.

One of my dogs has wheat and corn allergies so I understand. My dogs are thriving on Victor foods. No corn, wheat, or soy. They also have Grain-Free foods and several different protein/fat formulas. And it's made in Texas! Very affordable.

Wayne, my older dog is allergic to something in dry dog food, but not wet. I fed her canned and wet foods for several months, till she quit itching. THen experimented with various dry foods. Right now she seems to be doing ok on Wellness Core.

I looked at the ingredients that were in the dry food, and not the canned, and those were my suspects. Most of the dry dog foods have the same ingredients, some of them are there I think to hold the kibble together. The Wellness Core had something diffferent.

Good luck, it can be a long process.

    The Hill's has

Potato, Potato Starch, Venison, Potato Protein, Pork Fat, Soybean Oil, Natural Flavor, ...

The Natural Choice Venison meal and potato has a lot more ingredients:

Venison Meal, Dried Potatoes, Potato Starch, Pea Protein, Split Peas, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols), Sunflower Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols), Dried Plain Beet Pulp, Natural Flavor, ...

If you switch and dog goes downhill, then I'd suspect the peas or beets as the dog's allergens.

You might want to look into pro plan selects and compare.

My boss feeds it and loves it. She has a Weim that has bad ears and this has worked wonders.
