The rankings are based on 10 yrs worth of tax filings that reveal the amount of funds collected v. how much goes to the hired "solicitors" v. what actually gets to the ostensible beneficiaries of the charity.

The thing worth noting is that these charities choose names that are very similar to very reputable charities. For example the #1 worst charity is "Kids Wish Network" ... which would be easy to mistake for "Make-A-Wish Foundation". Others on the top 50 list: "Children's Wish Foundation International", ""Cancer Fund of America", "American Breast Cancer Foundation".

It's easy to see from the names of these charities how they can be confused with other charities with similar names.
