Default Queen Anne's County (MD) Deputy Sheriff needs help

Help K-9 Benny. The FOP (Queen Anne's County, MD) is accepting donations to help a Deputy purchase his K-9 partner. DFC Boyles was injured in the line of duty and is unable to return to full duty at this time. The QA Sheriff's Office administration is willing to retire his K-9 partner Benny to Boyles for a fee of $2000.00. Boyles has until July 1 to pay the $2000.00.

    If you would like to make a donation to help assist in keeping Boyles and Benny together, please send donations to;

    Attn K-9 Benny
    FOP Lodge 108
    PO Box 695
    Centreville MD 21617

Any questions or concerns please call President Kempel at 410-490-6186

    ************
As all of us know, our canine "partners" are more than just dogs, they are a part of us. DFC Boyles and K9 Officer Benny are a part of each other. They have been with each other continuously and it would be a shame for them to be separated due to DFC Boyles' injury. If you can make a donation, small or large, it would be greatly appreciated I am sure. There is only a short amount of time for the monies to be raised, so if you can help, please do it quickly.

    Thanks so much.

So if he can't return to duty what do they plan on doing to him? Looks like a way to scam someone...

Paul, this is not a scam. This is from my local police department. I would not post it if it were not verifiable.

Let me get this straight... The Officer was injured in the line of duty and cannot return to active duty, so the Department will let him keep his dog for a fee of $2K? Way to stick you neck out there for a fallen brother guys!!! I truly hope that Boyles keeps his dog, but my hell Administrations piss me off! What else are they charging him for, replacement cost for the vest that saved his life?

Sorry Vicki, I know its not you it just sounds so familiar from a work standpoint. Does the FOP have a link for internet donations?

    Eric,

I just left a voice mail message for the FOP President. I will try to find out if there is anyway they can accept donations via the internet (PayPal??) I'll post as soon as I hear back from him.

I did speak with another Deputy and learned that all donations will be acknowledged by the FOP and a charitable donation letter will be sent to the contribute for tax purposes.

The FOP does not have a PayPal account. So, if you are able to help out, please send your check to the address in the post above.

If anyone would prefer to use PayPal, they can send the money to my PayPal account and I will give their name and money to the FOP. If you want to use this option, please PM me for the PayPal info.

I understood it as letting the Benny retire early (they will need to replace Benny) and I can understand the cost. I'm in Vicki and sending you a PM.
