    Default Benghazi Hearings Continue

More testimony is scheduled for the end of June ... Ham will testify; as will the fellow in charge of the group that were ordered to stand down; and the person who relayed that order. (sorry don't remember the names offhand).

I had missed this statement from Dempsey on June 12:
General Dempsey made his statement on June 12 in a Senate hearing about the attacks on September 11, 2012, when the attack that killed ambassador Stevens and three Americans that were there to protect him occurred.
Dempsey told the Senate that command of the Special Forces–known as C-110, or the EUCOM CIF–was transferred from the European command to United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

This is consistent with a source that told Fox News, back in April, that aid could have gotten to Benghazi within 4 to 6 hours.

Don't remember who it was in the administration that specifically stated that help could not have arrived in time.

Gen. Dempsey is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and I'll take his word on it.

I do not have to plead the 5th. It occurs to me, as Lerner understood, when someone pleads the 5th, there is usually a pretty good chance there is something to hide, and that what they want to hide ain't pretty.

I imagine except for this one tragedy, there has NEVER been an incident when anyone in the chain of command had differences of opinion on what the right thing to do is. Everyone is ALWAYS on the same page. Especially when there is a chicken hawk Republican in the White House.

Come to think of it, I have never worked in a job where you could find malcontents somewhere between the CEO and the guy on the shop floor. No matter how hard you looked.

I found it interesting that Gen Dempsey and a couple of others spent about 2 hours in the White House today talking about Egypt yet President Obama was only able to afford a quick phone call with Sec of State Clinton over Benghazi. I wonder if he's learned the lesson or if something else is going on.

I sure do hope they could learn from Benghazi! To not do so, would go beyond "incompetent" to pure, unadulterated stupidity.

I also saw commentary which was very careful to mention how the military is very prepared to protect the embassy and Americans in Egypt. Even if the administration was thinking only of the mid-terms, another gross mistake in Egypt would blow the lid off for sure.

I could only imagine that if there was a repeat of anything like Benghazi, there would surely be an uproar, and the Ds would be roaring along with everybody else.

I also recall that when the embassy in Cairo was breached (just before Benghazi), Morsi had forewarned the US, and the Americans had vacated before the attack. Perhaps the Egyptians are also very conscious of how important their US aid is to their economic survival?
