    Default Overweight

So I went to pick up my dog from the vet today since she was boarded there while I was at the beach. She had a physical at the beginning of may and weighed 60.7 lbs. When i saw her today i was like " Holy Crap" my dog got FAT! I put her on the scale at the vet and she was 70.1 lbs. Now granted she was 61.0 when I took her last week, that means she gained 9 lbs in 5 days!!! Should I be pissed off or what??

Reweigh her. The scale could be wrong.

It was she same digital scale she was weighed on back in may. I guess it's possible that it was wrong but not likely.

I would like to know how they did it. Normally if you over feed a dog, it's digestive system can't handle it and the stools get loose. It seems really strange to me; I would ask them to account for it.

When people gain like that it's likely water weight. I think of people with congestive heart failure. Of that 10 pounds I wonder how much of it is water retention (salt intake?).

1 pound = 3500 kcal extra. She would have to have eaten about 6000 kcal extra per day. That's close to impossible.
Water weight comes to my mind, too.

Her belly was as firm and "fat" as I have ever seen it. She also popped 7 times in about 12-14 hours. But yes I agree numbers don't really add up. But I'm just relaying the numbers

If you take her out and work/train/run her on a regular basis and then she goes to setting in a kennel for a week I can see it happening. Just get her back into her normal routine, and I'l bet things work themselves out in a week or two.

Use pressure to eliminate that "popping". LOL!

Any chance she went a week without pooping?

Is she accustomed to being boarded?
