Default Answer from AKC on votes to eliminate layout blinds.

I asked to see who voted for or against the proposition which was adopted to eliminate the use of layout blinds. Here's the official answer:

"We do not publish the list of votes per club due to confidentiality. There was
    a 77% vote for Proposal 1 and a 69% vote for Proposal 2."

Well, I got an answer. Shrug of the shoulders regards, HPW

    Sounds about right.

You can't expect people who don't have an interest in or an intimate knowledge of waterfowl hunting to understand how to use specialty equipment safely and wisely. ANY mention of hunting in the Field Trial Standard Procedures or the Hunt Test Regulations to hunting scenarios or the equipment used to actually hunt is just lip service. For that matter, all the dog testing venues are going to be dominated by a non-hunting majority in the near future at the rate things are changing.

Someone posted on here a year or two ago that you can't expect people to know what an ordinary day's hunt looks like when they don't know what an ordinary day is. I thought that was classic....-Paul

This may be a stupid question but how do people that don't hunt with their dogs get into running hunt tests with their dog?

The same way AKC hunt test judges who are suppose to have extensive hunting experience that have never hunted, now judge or AKC field trial judges who judge various stakes who have never campaigned a dog in the stake they are judging.
So rhetorically , what else is new? Maybe Earth dog ( don't have a clue what it is) people administering various events!
Real world not perfect world. Goes on all the time in the nonmdog world. Maybe a little bit of the " Peter Principal" too,
People rise to the level of their incompetence . Nuff sarcasm for today had a bad day dog training rather then take it out on dogs vent on RTF for displacement.

Not much of an answer, Harry. You're a good man for trying/asking!
If the AVRC was still in business, this issue wouldn't just evaporate.

I and others would have a "bully pulpit" from which to take action!
And, action should be taken ASAP.

Unanswered of course is were there clubs that didn't vote ... what really was the 69% if
Prop 2 was the LOB ballot? And, if this problem of addressing the common practice of
training/lining dogs to "brushed blinds" during the week can't be solved under trial conditions
by experienced knowledgeable judges, what's the alternative on "golf course" height cover,
and open space with no terrain obstacles ...

One option might be to call for a meeting of club representatives at the November National
so as to place all this "in the proper perspective"?

Hey at this point I'd just like to see a judge that has titled a dog at the level they are judging, both in HT and FT's. There are so many people out there looking for the "glory" of being a judge that they fulfill the requirement to run once at that level and then can't wait for someone to hand them a clip board. If I hear one more judge ask the question "Why do you think all the dogs are doing that?" I'm gonna quit stealing bubba's beer and go straight to his whiskey

I guess I'm confused, happens often. I haven't run many test but I thought the judge had to title a dog before they could judge at that level. OK I can hear the get a rulebook replies.
