Happened at Finger lakes. Bird pen vandalized Friday night. We lost about 125 birds, but got close to 100 back over the day on Saturday. Sheriff showed up with a complaint from PETA that we were killing ducks and mistreating dogs.

No proof that Friday night's vandalizing of the bird pen was done by PETA.

As C. S. Lewis said, "Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

This describes several groups of all shapes, sizes, colors, and persuasions.

I'm curious about the complaint FROM PETA and the sherrif arriving. Was he/she obligated to investigate? I've heard that criminals always return to the scene of a crime, but wasn't aware that they sent law enforcement as well. How did the sherrif approach this?

Ducks released during the Sooner Retriever Club Field Trial at Lake Ellsworth in Elgin, Ok a number of years ago. Don't know if it was PETA or just some crazies..

These ducks being purchased make them property, not wild game. They touch your property you have a right to protect it, at least in my state. Same with dogs. As much as we like them to be family, they are property. I'm with the southern idea, except we don't have gators, snapping turtles eat meat don't they?

Wonder if they know they made a lot of coyotes very happy for a few days.
