    Default Acquiring training grounds---Need help

Some of us in my club have thought about contacting other clubs and partnering somehow to acquire training/testing grounds. I had once read something about this in Retriever News but cannot now find the article. The article mentioned dog clubs partnering with DU (I think). I would like to contact several clubs in my area who might be interested so that we can act on this. We are having a problem with training grounds.

I would appreciate ANY input on the matter. If you have done this or have an idea, please post!

How big is your club? Its amazing how many farmers will let you use their fields/ponds for training if you simply ask... especially if its not a ton of people using it at once...

My club has about 100 members but it is a breed club. Our training group has let's say 12 members that train. We are on Long Island. I do believe that a farm is the way to go but even that can disappear.

We have some problems with using the DEC property. Limited use, Tiger Salamander, shared use with non-dog groups, limited car access...problems that we didn't have before. We really would like something we could have shared usage with other dog clubs.

12 People knocking on farmer doors for an hour and you will likely acquire 12 new places to train...

Around here I have offered to pay a chunk of a farmers property taxes in exchange for hunting rights. Split up for dog training would be way cheaper than trying to buy land with pond, lake, or river access.
