This is a good article for getting some details on the "border fence" and border security. Trey Gowdy is one of the people interviewed, and there are also links to others Hewitt has interviewed prior to Gowdy.

Bottom line seems to be that a fence is an essential part of border security, but other tools can also be implemented. Those other tools, however, do not take the place of fencing in all locations.

There are some new details in here that I wasn't aware of before. The common border with Mexico is actually 1950 miles long. I didn't actually know the total distance.

I also didn't know that Hewitt was a lawyer as well.
