Reached out to the Ottawa Valley HRC and will be joining the club.
Had a great chat with Tim over the phone.
Looking forward to getting to know some other local retriever folks and training days!
great first step
when you hit your first big group training day
avoid the pressure to do the same big set ups you may see the grizzeled old timers run.
there are no training day ribbons.
That goes for all training as well. Try to train with folks that want to TRAIN instead of show off and talk about how awsome they are.. We've all trained with that one Dbag at one point or another that comes out and tries to turn a training day into the Nationals... And if you are reading this and thinking "do I do that?" then you probably do..
Good luck getting a word in with Tim. Also good luck with being able to raise a question or thinking a little bit different than what he views as right.
The valley HTC has an extreme problem holding on to new enthusiastic members for more than a few weekends because of the above reasons, it's really to bad. If above reason was not involved they would have myself and three other young guys in the club, which would help them old timers with the setup and tear down.
Must very unfortunate because the other group members are great people.
