Suppose you had too many dogs. Suppose it was 5 of you own and 4 boarders. Hypothetically speaking, of course. Suppose 2 of those are retired seniors, but 2 are under 6 months. Suppose you have been searching around for a particular breeding on particular lines for a couple of years, thinking of adding one in a year or two or 3. Suppose you find that breeding right now and it's within a 2 hr drive. Would you even consider this extremely tempting twist of fate, or would be sensible and wait?

If I have really been searching for the particular breeding that is happening and my lifestyle could support another puppy. Then I would absolutely buy one.

I have been searching and searching for a field trial chocolate out out of two mixes that I like and I found one. Although the pup will be born while I am korea and moving to alaska I could not pass it up so I put a deposit down.

The "right decision"to a retriever is generally that decision which feels good or is the most convenient. So its the trainers job to teach the dog that what feels good is that which pleases the trainer.

Suppose if you found the pedigree you liked; then you sell one of the others under 6 months or go with it. Just supposing.

Haha Bridget! I would so need that, but I'd have to add GSPs too. So both the other pups have to stay here. One is a board/train. The other is my son's dog and first attempt at training a versatile dog with me. One of the adult boarders is for sale. Could open up a space. The spouse is not so on board with adding. Already had a fit over the son keeping a puppy. I usually thank said spouse for balancing my "enthusiasm" with reality. Except when I WANT!
