Thread: Admin - pop-up ads?

  1. #1

    Default Admin - pop-up ads?

Why do I get pop up ads when I try to look at things in my iPhone? And why do the little "X"s not allow me to close them? Instead I have to back up with my browser, and then re-click whatever I wanted to look at. Please explain how I can stop this stuff from happening.

I'm getting that, too. Once the pop up ad appears, it is impossible to get past it without shutting things down...then the same thing often happens again. Reading RTF on my iPhone is nearly impossible.

Ditto. It is a real turn off.

I find it curious that I get reminder on RTF for my UK TV licence
I also get pop ups showing best deals on caravan sites in the UK when I visit without signing in !

Apparently, the ads are user specific at least some of the time. I get an ad from buff work pants because I visited there page apparently. I'm not complaining. It is just a curiousity.

Does anyone know how to navigate past/back the pop-ups on an iPhone without having to close the webpage and start over? If no one can tell me how to do that, my checking in to RTF will be severely curtailed because I don't want the hassle.

It also looks like they turned off the ability to revert to the old style RTF so you are stuck with the ads on mobile.

There is NO free lunch. Would you pay a yearly subscription of say $25 with NO ads , NO pop-ups and only member access? I belong to another activity (club) with such a set-up, 5,000 strong and it is not a "circus" as this sometimes becomes. No pay, stay or leave.

I don't own an IPhone so I guess I miss out on one of life's stresses that way .
