    Default Why

Is it that no one uses this part of the forum?

I think it is easier to just use AKC's website or word of mouth. Vic

I placed an add for judging assignments and most come word of mouth or other judges who recommend you, i did not get and assignments from RTF, I even stated i could travel from Jun through august and drive most weekends in the Mid Atlantic area.

It would be helpful if full names (as listed on the AKC site), plus points, and home location were posted.

Is there somewhere else that individuals use for Judge information / requests?

Many years ago when I was the new and dumb enough sucker who volunteered to be our HT club president, I soon inherited the role of event chairman. I was looking for judges. I didn't know hardly anyone so I posed a "Judges needed" thread on RTF. You'da thought I was wearing a What Would Satan Do? t-shirt to our next meeting. The old guys ripped me apart. "We're not going to have people we don't know judging for us". My reply: "Then you come up with judges".

You've got to attend a lot of events, work them, be extroverted, meet people and put yourself 'in the circle'.

I think the "enthusiasm" to judge scares clubs away. Clubs should ask their current committed judges for recommendations!
Maybe a list of questions to ask/vet your potential judges should be developed???
