Default Double entry ... legal or not?

Have a question. I came across a premium for an AKC event that contains the statement
"Dogs may not be entered in more than one stake."

This is counter to all I know about the limitations on entries. Does the AKC review the premium before approving the event? If so and this is not legitimate, should AKC events be contacted or does one simply enter the desired two stakes and deal with the outcome?

I've never seen it in the US but nearly all derbies and Qs say "stakes will be run in conjunction and dog can only be entered in 1 stake" or something along those lines.

Is this the case in the premium you are talking about?

What event? Is there a considerable distance between grounds the stakes are run on?

I doubt it. There is only one location given. In the Toller WC/WCI/WCX, this rule exists ostensibly because the WCI mut be passed before the WCX. However I've also heard that a double entry would be unfair to the other dogs !(?) In other words, it's a case of people making the rules who don't what they are doing.

None of this answers my question. Does the AKC check the premium as a part of the approval process and missed it or does AKC really mean this "rule" to exist?

I know I've entered the same dog in both Ams and Opens or Quals and Ams (like a million other people) and Junior and Senior or Senior and Master. Never had an issue. I too wonder where that came from.

They made it up for convenience sake it would seem. It is not allowed in the club testing program so they just assumed that was the right way to do it.

I'm now told that it was in the draft of the premium that was approved by AKC.(shrug)

Shrug is right! Depending on the dog, sometimes that's the reason I attend - so I can double stake. Otherwise, I'll just stay home.

Is WC an AKC Event? Or was your reference to toller wc’s Just for comparison?
