    Default Refund on entry fees

I've not done this before and the time seems to be lagging a bit.

I had to scratch a dog from the Senior event (double) at East Tenn on May 25th. I sent email to the secretary on the Monday before (day 1 of season) and then confirmed it by phone on Wednesday.

Who will refund my money, entry express or the club? How long should it take? If it's EE, do they simply credit the credit card or send a check?

It is up to the club secretary. Most clubs require proof in writing of a bitch in heat from your veterinarian. I would check to see if they are waiting for the letter.

And some clubs don't give Refunds minus scratch fee at all, ala Midwest Field Trial Club.

If a club isn't giving full refunds when they are provided a vet letter verifying bitch in heat or dog injured/deceased, they are in violation of the rules and can be reported as such.

Chapter 14, Sec 2 of the FT rulebook (HT has similar rule too):

Bitches in Season: shall not be eligible for competition in any stake, shall not be allowed on the field trial grounds, and must be withdrawn from any stake in which they are competing as soon as it is known that they have come in season. The entry fees of bitches withdrawn at any time because of coming in season shall be refunded. Refunding Entry Fees: This Section intends that entry fees paid for a bitch withdrawn because of coming in season at any time after payment of the entry fee and at any point prior to the conclusion of the stake in which it is entered shall be refunded in full by the trial-giving club. In addition, although not specifically dealt with in the preceding paragraph, the entry fees paid for a dog withdrawn because of injury or illness or for a dog that dies shall be refunded in full by the trial-giving club. Prior to paying such refund, the club may require an appropriate
    18
veterinary certificate. If a stake is to be judged by a judge substituted after the premium list has been published, a contestant may withdraw a dog entered in that stake and shall have the entry fee refunded in full by the trial-giving club. Out of courtesy, the trial secretary shall be notified of this withdrawal as soon as possible. No entries may be withdrawn for this reason after the stake has started. In the event a dog is withdrawn for other reasons, the trial-giving club is free to formulate its own policy with reference to refunds provided that said policy shall be fixed in advance of the mailing of the premium for any particular trial.
