    Default Two down the shore

On two down the shore I have a problem my dog always acts like he don’t see the bird and swims way too far past the long bird before he beaches puts on a hunt and then hunts back towards holding blind. That is if the bird is thrown on the land and not in The water.I can repeat the single long bird and he will do the same thing over and over.Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Not terribly unusual.
The dog has clearly received the message you want him to stay in the water. That ain't all that bad a thing
I personally would never correct him for this. Initially I would let him work it out. If he kept doing it I'd have the Gunner hey hey him or throw him another bird

Is the gun retired or is it hidden?

When you say "hunts back toward the holding blind" I assume you mean the gun/thrower and not the line, correct?
If so I would make sure the gunner is visible to the dog while it is in the water. Maybe simplify by throwing the bird right to the waters edge.

Why do you think the dog is not marking the bird and swimming to it?

Is he afraid to get out before swimming to end of pond?

Is he not watching or not seeing the bird in the air and as it falls?
