Default trouble getting sire and dam entered on EE

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a trick I don't know about.... I can't get Mully (obviously on EE) to come up as a known sire.... not putting any titles in....

same for the dam - a MH and obviously on EE....

    I sent an email...

Type the first part of name and pause. If you type the entire name, the system won’t catch up. I type so slow I never have that issue.

What captainjack said. I've never understood why they started requiring sire and dam be in the drop down menu rather than just allowing them to be typed in as in the past. I've never received an explanation. The only effect I've seen is that not uncommonly, sire and dam aren't listed in the catalog.

I don't know the answer either, but I suspect it was to eliminate so many different spellings etc of the same dog. For instance, there would be 40 different ways people typed in Grady's registered name (NAFC FC AFC Cody Cut a Lean Grade) registered name so you could never really track the offspring or heck, even find Grady's results because you might never click on the correct name. I think by creating the drop down box, once an owner enter's the dogs name, that becomes the only name for that dog so that should eliminate so many duplicate entries on "sire" or "dam" names. Otherwise, every Tom, Sally or Harry with a new dog and entering their dogs sire and dam info would just type in a name for their dogs sire/dam and might spell it wrong, or maybe they forget to include a title or maybe the wrote the title wrong, etc etc...

What is registered - as opposed to - call name?
Competition does not build character - It reveals it.

Grady was in the database 827 times. It messes up performance data, search by name, etc.

So you're saying my estimate above of "40 times" was just a touch low. haha.

AKC (or CKC) registered name as oppose to the name the dog is handled with. I would not put 'Mully' in the box... but I would put 'Mulligan' - or the first 3 or 4 letters of his name ....
